Invaluable Experience that Showcased Some Inspiring Start-Ups

On Wednesday 23rd October 2019 more than 60 students and emerging entrepreneurs gathered at Henley Business School to educate themselves about the 12 important steps for starting a business and had the chance to listen to stories of 3 local entrepreneurs at the event ‘I want to start my own business’ hosted by Reading Entrepreneurs, Entrepreneurship Society at University of Reading.

The event was opened by Julia Kala, the President of Reading Entrepreneurs & Founder of BrightFuture who welcomed the first speaker Jurek Sikorski, Executive Director of Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship. Jurek highlighted 12 aspects which everyone needs to consider when starting their own business in order to be successful and a chaired panel with 3 local entrepreneurs:

  • Timothy Brownstone, CEO & Founder KYMIRA
  • Charity Nichols, Founder & Owner Green Pioneer/Green Tulip
  • Thomas Copper, Founder Tuk In Foods

The Panellists shared their personal story of how they started a business, what they achieved so far, what challenges they faced alongside any tips and advice they had. The panel was open to attendees for questions which stroked up conversations that explored these topics after the session. The event has been highlighted with a networking session at the end which allowed attendees to practice their networking skills and make connections with entrepreneurs’ guest from the event over the pizza and drinks.

Anonym

‘The event was an invaluable experience that showcased some inspiring start-ups and the lessons that can be drawn from the process. I was also able to get the insights and answers after speaking to the panellists during the networking session.’
